Our 3 and 4-week sessions focus on the workshopping and rehearsal of a full-length musical production, which is then performed for the public for several consecutive days.
Our 2-week sessions culminate in shorter, less elaborate shows with one or two performances. These camps are suitable for younger or less experienced performers.
Our 1-week sessions offer a workshop environment, where students will get to showcase the skills they have been working on in a short final presentation.
And to ensure a well-rounded and diverse performing arts experience, we also offer daily “minor” classes for our Older Company 2 week camps, as well as Extended Arts classes for our 3 and 4-week camps, which may include dance, singing, stage combat, circus skills, makeup, and improvisation.
The focus of our 2-4 week camps is on work-shopping and performing a production. This means the primary focus is on enhancing each performer’s creativity and skill, which may include the following:
Students will be split into age-based peer groups. Each peer group will meet at the beginning and end of each camp day for check-in, group warm-ups, and basic drama exercises.
Peer groups foster an intimacy and camaraderie between students within the larger group. Furthermore, students have a dedicated peer group teacher to whom they can communicate as needed.
Majors are an important component of our program. Each student will choose two “majors,” or technique-based classes, and spend one hour per day in majors during the first three weeks of camp. Choices may include dance, stage combat, singing, scene study, speech, and improvisation.
Extended arts classes are part of our commitment to create an environment in which students stay active every day. We have staff to provide stimulating performing arts classes throughout the day such as creative movement, improvisation, scene study, mask work, storytelling, and more.
Due to the condensed rehearsal time frame of our 1 and 2-week camps, extended arts classes are not offered during these sessions.
Outside of peer groups, much of the camp day is spent in mixed age groups. We have found during our experience that when children are taken out of their exclusive peer group they often thrive and make huge creative leaps.
For Indoor Camps, camp days are Monday-Friday from 9 a.m. – 4 p.m.
Performances for our 2-4 week camps are held on the weekend after the last day of camp. Students must be on-site for daily camp and show call times (two hours before each show).
