”We create the opportunity for students to really own their work by encouraging them to think critically, make their own creative choices, and use each other as resources for guidance and inspiration.”

Michelle Romeo, founder and artistic director

What We Do

Founded in 1996 by our artistic director, Michelle Romeo, Rocky Mountain Theatre for Kids came from very humble beginnings, as Michelle’s first class consisted of six students, and was taught in her backyard at the time.

But over the years, as her passion for imagination, the creative process, and excellence in production grew, so did we, as we expanded our acting classes for kids, started offering acting summer camps and private acting lessons, and opened our Actors Academy for the Performing Arts.

Unlike other youth theatre programs, which tend to be focused solely on putting on a show, we strive to teach our students to become extraordinary performing artists so they can gain extensive knowledge of their craft, an understanding of how to work together, and an enhanced sense of confidence and belonging.

Our Mission

We strive to be a pillar of our local youth theatre community by providing professional training and education that empowers today’s youth to be confident, capable, creative performing artists, and well-rounded young adults.

What’s more, we’re dedicated to nurturing students’ ability to think critically, innovate creatively, and collaborate with their peers so they can reach their fullest potential as performers.

We do this by inspiring youth to raise their performance standards and achieve theatrical excellence, and by creating an experiential space where they can realize a deeper sense of self-confidence, empathy, and empowerment.

Our Promise

As we empower the next generation of theatrical talent, we promise to deliver professional, high-quality theatre education and production experiences that are tailored to each student’s unique needs and capabilities.

  • With a commitment to responsive communication and strong partnerships with parents, we ensure that every student’s journey
    is supported and valued.
  • Our youth theatre programs are designed to foster opportunities for critical thinking, creative choices, and specialized guidance, all while inspiring students to be the best they can be.
  • We guarantee equal opportunities for all students to shine on stage, emphasizing collaboration and teamwork as the foundation for theatrical excellence.
  • At the end of the day, we don’t just teach kids how to be top-notch performers, we nurture confident, creative individuals who are ready to contribute to the world.
